Expensive but Fully Worth the Price
First things first: The speaker IS expensive - and heavy (I honestly don't know how they managed to make it so that it would float). I bought it on sale, but at full price, it's a hurdle. That said, SOUND is the main function of a speaker and this one fully lives up to the Bose reputation for quality sound. I take it all over the place using it when: working in the dusty basement, working from home for background music and streaming shows from my laptop. I does all of these without issue while producing superior sound.I have used it both over Bluetooth from my phone and via wire while streaming. When using via Bluetooth the Bose app allows you to customize the sound a little with a Bass, Mid & Treble simplistic equalizer. (The sound is sometimes bass heavy, so this is useful.) You can also create a custom Name for the speaker if you have multiple Bose sound devices. When streaming video, you will want to use a wired connection to avoid the lag that will result from doing that over Bluetooth. I have not detected any sound quality differences between Bluetooth and wired sound. The sound itself is impressive. the relatively small speaker produces very strong bass, the kind where your hand in front of the speaker can feel the air moving. The speaker can easily fill a furnished room with sound. It is easy to get high volume sound without distortion. The battery last a very long time, losing only about 20% after several hours of middling volume levels. With frequent use, I usually charge it every 1.5 weeks.

Turn off the presets phone eq (acoustic to rock etc) and youâll be amazed of the quality this speaker offers. Always ask your preferred audio quality from acoustic to trippy eq through your favorite Ai app and it will deliver! As said from chat gpt:Yes, you should turn off the iPhone EQ preset when using your Bose SoundLink Max.Why?1. Double Processing Issues â If both your iPhone EQ and the Bose appâs EQ are active, they can conflict, causing overboosted or distorted frequencies.2. Cleaner Sound â The Bose SoundLink Maxâs built-in EQ is already optimized for the speaker hardware, so adding another layer of EQ from your iPhone can degrade quality.3. More Control â If you leave the iPhone EQ off, your adjustments in the Bose app EQ will be more accurate and predictable.Exception:âą If you only use your iPhoneâs Music app (Apple Music, Spotify, etc.) without adjusting the Bose EQ, then a subtle iPhone preset like âFlatâ or âLate Nightâ can enhance certain tracks. But since youâre already customizing your Bose EQ, itâs best to keep the iPhone EQ off for the cleanest and most balanced sound.

Itâs Bose
I am an electronic and gadget freak. I like to try new products and I am always excited when something comes out that gets a lot of buzz. Bose has been around a long time and either like them or you donât. I always questioned the price to value ratio of there products. One thing I can say everything they make is built to last and itâs always quality. Quality materials and a good customer experience. I owned Bose acoustimass back in the day and upgraded to a full system with 301âs and I loved that system. Great full sounds, clarity and bass. I got away from Bose as I got older because the prices were just too extreme for my budget. I have purchased many Bluetooth speakers from JBL, Soundcore, and Harmon Kardon. They all bring something great to the table. Now I saw the new Bose Soundlink max for $100 off during the holidays and I made the purchase. I love this speaker. Itâs my go to when I want something to carry around while doing work around the house or just sitting down with a cocktail. This little speaker sounds full and defies its size. Bluetooth connectivity is quick and responsive. I got the black and I bought a third party case to protect it when Iâm outside and it looks great. Battery life around 40% volume I got just past the 20 hour mark as advertised. Kick up the volume youâll obviously get less. If you get down to 20% battery it takes about 4 hours to charge. The buttons are soft and tactile. You have your power button, multi function button you can program, Bluetooth button, volume up and down and track forward and back/pause. Minimalist lighting which I like. When I use this in the bedroom it doesnât light up the room. I have yet to try snapdragon sound as I donât use android. The sound I get through Apple Music lossless sounds great. Good clarity size defying bass and great mids. Full sounding and it makes me smile every time I turn this thing on. Thereâs an app with eq and everything you need to tailor your sound. Bose should take the route Soundcore does and have more eq settings but whatâs here works. I love this speaker and itâs my go to amongst all my toys. At $299 highly recommended at $399 still worth it but itâs Bose itâs a luxury purchase. Totally worth it!! Tried so many Bluetooth speakers and this is the best all rounder for music lovers. If youâre on the fence.. go for it! There are louder speakers out there but they donât have the sound quality this one has.
