Vendor is great!
I have used this fan in other boats; they are reliable and quite. The vendor is what all customers dream of. One of the fans didn't work and I allowed too much time before I installed it to send it back via Amazon. So I called Apollo and they sent me a replacement. I didn't expect that; wow! I will more business with this vendor. Excellent!!

Absolute Crap!!! Do not buy.
Only because I can’t give negative stars.I have purchased 15 of these fans over the last 3 years. They all start perfect. Produce a ton of air and are silent. And then...Within 6 months of use they start to make ticking noises.... humming noises... and then eventually squeaking noises. Finally... they’ll stop working altogether.I loved these fans in the beginning... now... it’s almost causing a divorce because of how $h.tty these fans are. And they’re NOT cheap.

They worked really well after some initial concern.
When I first put these end the install was bit of a pain in the ass. It was my boat not the fans problem. Then I turned them on and it sounded like an airplane idling. Holy cow! I called Hella and chewed out some poor guy that worked there. When we finally sailed from Mexico to French Polynesia and had to use them, they worked great! The early noise disappeared completely. Each night we said our prayers thanking the Hella God for the fans. I should really call that guy back an apologize.

The Best
These fans are the standard fare on many sailboats, including Carribean charter boats for good reason. They are frequently run 24/7. They do wear out but that's to be expected.A few years ago, I switched my four fans to another brand from Canada that was getting great reviews. That didn't last and now all my fans are the Hella. I run mine 24/7 in the summer, great fans.

A fan that works
This Hella fan does all it promises. This is our second fan. We have had our forward cabin fan for some 15 years and it still performs according to specifications. This second fan is for the aft cabin. We live aboard our boat and in these hot Texas summers the fan runs 24 hours per day. The only drawbacks are (1) the fan lacks an aft blade guard and, (2) the wiring harness must be attached to the mounting bracket to keep the wire from getting wrapped in the blade. Otherwise, a low wattage, durable fan. We recommend it without reservation FOR THE JOB IT IS DESIGNED TO DO!

OK. Low air-flow. Quiet. Over-Priced.
It's OK. It is quiet, but has low air-flow. It is over-priced. The back of the fan is open so you can snag your fingers in the blade. Turn it off before making any adjustments.

Reasonable fan, quiet and effective, and easily maintained with a little effort
A good, quiet fan. Replaced two existing fans of the same model on my boat; they were still functional, but noisy and beginning to fail (rough, loose bearings). According to Practical Sailor, these are pretty near the top of the list for performance, noise and quality. Clearly I would buy again... :-)Note that life can be considerably extended with some simple maintenance. Search YouTube for a how-to video; disassembly, cleaning and a drop of McLube OneDrop on each bearing will work wonders. It is a surprisingly simple job, and worth the effort if your fan is becoming rough or noisy.Basic method: remove the 1/2" dia. cap in the center of the fan hub; loosen the collet, and remove the fan blades. Free up some slack in the wires, and pry the control knob off the front. Clean everything, lubricate (sparingly!), reassemble and reinstall...

No power
I mounted the fan practically 2ft in front of me but it has no power to move air effectively, needless to say but i will! I won't be buying another one.
