Much, much better than ice
Why did you pick this product vs others?:These things are amazing! We drove all the way across the US and back (about 6,000 miles). Each day I'd put all three bags (stacked) in our ice chest, and by the end of the day when we stopped for the night, they were still frozen. All the food in the ice chest was refrigerator cold -- and some of the food sitting directly on the bags got frozen. Way better than ice and much cheaper in the long run.

Keeping My Trail Snacks (and Sanity) Chilled
As a Colorado transplant who spends most weekends exploring Colorado's trails, I always seek gear to keep up with my outdoor adventures. These Cooler Shock Reusable Ice Packs have become an essential part of my pack. They ensure that my food and drinks stay refreshingly cold, whether I'm summiting a 14er or just enjoying a picnic in Denver's Cheesman Park. Here's why I'm giving them a 5-star summit salute:Long-Lasting Chill: These ice packs are like the Energizer Bunny of cold—they just keep going and going. They stay frozen for an impressively long time, keeping my more extraordinary contents chilled for hours, even under the intense Colorado sun. No more lukewarm trail snacks or melted sandwiches to dampen my summit celebrations!Durable and Reusable (Just Like My Favorite Hiking Boots): These ice packs are built to last. They're made from rigid, puncture-resistant material that can withstand the bumps and jostles of a day on the trail. Plus, they're reusable, which aligns perfectly with my commitment to sustainability and minimizing waste.Versatile Sizes for Every Adventure: The variety of sizes is perfect for different needs. I use the larger ones for my main cooler when I'm car camping or heading to a Rockies game and the smaller ones for my lunch bag or to keep individual drinks cold on those long hikes.Quick Freeze for Back-to-Back Adventures: These ice packs freeze relatively quickly, so I can easily re-freeze them overnight after a day on the trail and be ready for my next adventure. No more waiting around for slow-to-freeze ice blocks! No Messy Leaks (Unlike My Attempts at Backcountry Cooking): Unlike traditional ice, these packs don't leak or create a watery mess in my cooler. My food stays dry, my cooler stays clean, and I can focus on enjoying the scenery instead of cleaning up a soggy mess.A Few Minor Considerations: While I'm pleased with these ice packs, there are a couple of minor drawbacks that I've seen mentioned in other reviews:Condensation: Some users have reported that the ice packs can form condensation on the outside. I've noticed this, but it's easily managed by wrapping the packs in a thin towel or placing them in a waterproof bag. It's a small price to pay for the convenience and long-lasting chill they provide. Not as Cold as Regular Ice: While these ice packs stay cold for a long time, they might not reach the same freezing temperatures as regular ice. However, they're sufficient to keep food and drinks refreshingly chilled on even the hottest summer days.Overall: If you're looking for reliable, long-lasting, and reusable ice packs for your cooler, the Cooler Shock ice packs are an excellent choice. They're a must-have for hikers, campers, picnickers, and anyone who wants to keep their food and drinks cold on the go. As someone passionate about exploring Colorado outdoors, these ice packs have become essential to my gear, ensuring that refreshingly cold snacks and beverages always fuel my adventures.

Five Star Purchase
I recently used these slim ice packs on a glamping trip, and they performed exceptionally well. They kept our food and drinks cold, and the three handled large ice packs with handles worked great in my TJ insulated bags (a great alternative to bulky coolers for road trips). The slim design was a game-changer, fitting perfectly into the tiny freezer in our glamping cabin without taking up much space.Filling them was a breeze thanks to the included funnel. They conform to the contents of the bag, ensuring even cooling. Their design does not occupy much space in our home freezer. The price was right for the quality, weight, and thickness.

For the people in the back.... These cannot be emptied when not in use.
So... I didn't realize these ice packs worked the way they do. I THOUGHT this was a reusable pouch that I could fill with water, freeze, use to keep items cold and then empty out the water and store flat until I needed it again. We were having a scheduled power outage and I thought ice would help keep the fridge cooler longer while the power was temporarily out. Since this is the second scheduled outage recently, I thought buying a pack I could store flat in a drawer would be ideal since freezer space is at a premium. I already have two hard plastic ice packs that take up room. The arrived the day of the outage, leaving me with not much time to fill up and freeze one. Worked great in tandem with the other plastic ice packs. Fridge stayed cool enough. We haven't noticed any spoilage of fridge contents. (This pack wouldn't stand up, so I actually placed one of the hard plastic packs in between two gallons of milk which I think was key.)Today, I go to empty out the pack, so I could store it flat. I squeeze out a little of the gel thinking it was just a frosty cork, and only then did I realize what was going on.I showed a friend the pack and asked how they thought it worked, and they too thought it was a water-in-water-out situation.I'm now thinking I ruined the pack. I didn't measure the water. I didn't release air bubbles. I didn't shake it. I didn't install the cork. Its a bit rounded with how I filled it. And didn't have the room to freeze it perfectly flat. I guess I know for the next two, should I ever use them. At this point, I'm hoping this thing can live outside my freezer and that it doesn't ruin the functionality of the gel because it takes up a lot of space and I don't need giant ice packs regularly. I wish I had ordered the smaller version as I'd get more use out of those for trips to the grocery store, etc. I don't even have room to freeze 3 of these things at once. So, don't "just add water" like I did. There's rules for this thing. Also, instructions say to freeze the packs 24-48 hours before use, so this isn't a last minute solution (like ice) either.I'll have to do a real test, but I'm not sure they performed better than the hard-plastic packs I already had. I prefer the usability (flat, standup, lay down) of those, but if these Cooler Shock bags do stay cooler longer, than thats obviously an important feature.Anyway, works great, I guess. I agree its less of a watery mess than 6lbs of ice and lasts longer, but its a solid, slick block. Unlike ice, you cant nest things into it, like cans or bottles. I imagine it would take longer than ice to cool any items that aren't already cold due to potentially limited contact. I see some people use these packs to keep the ice in their coolers cold, which is pretty funny. Oddly, that makes sense!

Easy to Use and Super Effective
I’ve been using these Cooler Shock ice packs for my road trips and they work amazingly well. Super simple to set up and they actually stay cold the whole day while I’m driving. I use them to keep my snacks and drinks fresh and they’ve made traveling so much easier. No melted ice to deal with and everything stays nice and chilled. Honestly one of those things I didn’t know I needed until I tried it.
