Exactly as described!
Husband well pleased with this. In good condition and arrived on time. Not my kind of music so I can't comment on the content!

whatever happened to Sky(ha!)..
If you're under 25,then you probably don't know that this band(or should that be supergroup?)of classical and session musicians were one of the most successful in the 80's in the UK and especially Australia. This album propelled them to No.1 chart success and remains their most definitive work in my opinion. It's a mixture of soft-rock instrumentals, coupled with straightforward classical works, made obvious by the top 10 single "Toccata".Fronted by world famous guitarist John Williams, they didn't really need much publicity and this album and the preceeding debut LP "Sky" stayed on the charts for about a year, such was their popularity at the time.I remember working in a record shop in London at the time and this outsold every else by about 10 to 1,so if you've heard a couple of tracks or you're intrigued to hear more,"Sky 2" would be an ideal starting point.

A masterpiece
Having been introduced to Sky courtesy of my late father's record collection, this album was always one of my favourites to listen to. So, when it finally became available on CD I couldn't wait to get hold of a copy. The only downside to the 1992 Music Club reissue is that the track Scipio is somewhat shorter (by almost 1 minute) than the original vinyl version. Wether this was due to simple time constraints, i.e. they didn't have the capacity to fit the entire double album onto one CD, I'm not sure. But, if that was the case, then surely it would have been better to have reissued it as a double CD, this preserving the original duration of the entire album!Having said that, the full length version of Scipio is availale on the 2005 Sanctuary issue of this CD (CMRCD 1087), although making that available has resulted in them replacing one of the other tracks (Gavotte And Variations) with a shorter edit which on the Sanctuary CD is 5'16", whereas the Music Club version is 6'12".Swings and roundabouts I guess, but it's still a great album!

Excellent remastering!
Enough people have said enough things about this album so I won't go over old ground.I do want to add that compared to the original version, which was flat and listless, this is an altogether more dynamic mastering and a lot more enjoyable. The EQ, having more lower mids, probably helps. If you enjoyed this album on vinyl but were dissappointed by the original CD you should definitely check this version out!

a resounding success
There are very few classical meets rock albums that have stood the test of time - or even more than one listen - this is one of them.I lost my cassette copy years ago and bought the CD version to make up for it. It's still terrific - "Watching the Aeroplanes" remains a joy along with "Scipio" and well, yes the rest of the album!

Blast from the past
I owned this CD when it originally came out, no idea where it went so I ordered this one.It plays and sounds excellent, has no surface scratches and bought back many fond memories.

A blast from the past!!!
I lost my vinyl copy of this years ago so was delighted to see that this could be download.Clever, intelligent must that I remember from my youth, with enough 'rock' in there to keep my happy! You certainly need to check out Hotta, Vivaldi and Toccata if you know little about the band...

All the musicians are very good. Herbie Flowers unusual tuba work is different
It's a solid album. All the musicians are very good. Herbie Flowers unusual tuba work is different. As a tuba player myself I enjoyed it .John Williams and Francis Monkman play at a very high level. A good album to add to your collection

Review On Sky2 The Album
I had been searching for a long time, for this particular album and I was absolutely thrilled to find it here, on Amazon, for a ridiculously low price!Even though the Album was in USA and I am in Australia, it came to me in perfect condition, and extremely fast! The details given of the above album where clear and I knew exactly what I was purchasing and how much everything would cost including shipping..This was an important album to me, as I listened to it through my childhood, and even when I did not have the album, the songs would play over in my mind in different moments in my life..So I am one very pleased customer, and I shall be back for more wonderful purchases!!
