really nice
love this case. I like that I can use the ipad in landscape and portrait mode (one of a few options on the market that allow this). But I also love that it's minimal, on the lighter side despite all of the magnets in the case. I also love that I can easily remove the case from the back pad and use without the cover.

Great alternative to the Apple Smart Folio or any other folio cases
I bought this to replace the Apple Smart Folio I had used for 2 weeks. I originally had this same case for my M2 iPad Pro and had only bought the Apple Smart Folio because this case had not been available. In comparison, this folio case has more stable angles. It has a sketch mode which is the perfect angle for writing/drawing. The back piece makes the iPad feel good to hold when in tablet mode. The outer material is vegan leather which gives this case a premium feel. My only gripe with this case is TomToc decided to integrate the pencil flap. This is not a problem if you do not have a grip on your Apple Pencil. Additionally, the magnets are weaker in this pencil flap compared to the previous version. Other than that, I’m happy with this case. I like to alternate between this case and the Magic Keyboard. If you want a case that offers minimal weight with basic protection, this is the one to get. If you are looking for a heavy duty protective case, look elsewhere.

3 starts for Folio. 5 stars for back plate. GREAT magnetic back "plate"! HOWEVER, folio is so-so.
The media could not be loaded. 3 star for the folio, but 5 stars for the magnetic internal detachable backing "plate"! It has the best back of any of the 14 cases I've tried! The outer folio when closed holds the iPad and Pencil very securely. However there is NO edge protection and its unreliably finicky at holding an iPad at any angle. 2 stars for the outer folio. There are MUCH better options out there. I will list the best at the end of this review.I kept this case because of the back "plate", its super pleasant and very grippy with an almost suede-ish texture. Again, by far the best and most pleasant back "plate" out of the 14 cases I've tried. Even stand alone cases felt more slipper and unpleasant. Once magnetically attached it makes the back of the iPad completely flat and even, while still protecting the cameras. For some reason this is something most other cases fail to do.Drawing angle, depending on how force is applied it is pretty firm, however there can be a centimeter of jiggle.45 degrees, apply enough force in certain directions and the bottom will give way.Standing, even tapping on the upper right corner can unsettle this folio. Moving it can make the left side detach. While you can use it with the Magic Keyboard it. It will neither charge from, nor allow you to fully close the Magic Keyboard. It doesn't have the pass-through connection to charge and its camera protecting thickness is too much to allow the keyboard to close. For my needs I got this case plus a Magic Keyboard. Here are the better options for angled use, that however lack the greatness of this cases' back "plate".ESR for iPad Pro 11 Inch Case 2024 5th Generation (M4), Rotating Case with Removable Magnetic Cover, Adjustable Portrait/Landscape Stand with Raised Screen View, 9 Standing Angles, Shift Series,TORRAS Ostand for iPad Pro 11 inch Case 2024 (M4) Ultra Stable Stand, Multiple Adjustable Viewing Angles, Slim Protective Kickstand Cover, Translucent iPad 11 Pro Case with Pencil Holder

bad customer service and a zero star product
Save your money it’s not worth it! The magnets are very weak. I was really excited about the concept but the execution is poor. I’m afraid it will disconnect easily so I will be returning I might try and get a replacement to see if the magnets get better. Also you can’t use this in combination with the Magic Keyboard, it will stick but the keyboard won’t work because the three little holes are covered.Update** I tried to work with tomtocs customer service but they only replied one a day in the middle of the night. Not only that but they make it extremely hard to get to troubleshooting I am on day 5 of contact and still haven’t made it to actual troubleshooting. I’ve been told maybe I contacted the wrong support team, maybe I have the wrong case, send photos of the product box and codes and finally upload a video not too long but not too short showing the issue through a YouTube link??? I don’t know how to do that! All this while they keep saying how “good” their product is and telling me about the features. This is the worst customer service. If k could rate this product and customer a ZERO I would. This case is not worth $57 it’s barely worth $15!! Save your time!!

Quality case
I use it more than I thought I would. I switch between this and a Magic Keyboard. Works great.

Good concept, but could be better
I would probably give this more of a 3.5 stars. It is a good concept and probably one of the only options for a case providing horizontal and vertical layouts. The piece that attaches to the back of the iPad is actually very nice by itself and ideal for using the iPad as a reader. It gives the iPad both a better grip for holding and some protection on the back. The folding piece (origami piece) that folds to protect the screen and doubles as the horizontal and vertical stand is a bit cumbersome and somewhat difficult to use. Also, the magnets don't seem to align the iPad properly when attached and you have to manually adjust it a bit. However, I am unsure if it is possible to do much better and provide the same functionality. Nevertheless, that's where things are not great. Finally, the flap for the pen somehow pulled off the camera privacy sticker I had (which is not an issue by itself). But when I tried to remove the sticker, it pulled off all the felt lining. That's not a big deal because you don't really need the felt lining on that flap, but obviously the material is pretty flimsy. All in all, not too bad. But they could improve this and make a lot better.
