I have used the D8 for over year now for the typical diagnosis of several automotive problems on mostly Mercedes, VW, and Hondas with good success.Recently I used the D8 to duplicate ignition keys for a Honda Civic 2001. The process was straightforward and worked perfectly.Overall the D8 provides diagnostics capabilities similar to OEM tools in an easy to use high value format.New info: The D8 did not charge when connected to a car for diagnosing a problem. Xtool tech support work with me to determine the ODBII cable was bad and sent me a replacement that worked. Xtool tech support was very responsive in getting this problem resolved. Thanks Jenny

I purchased this unit to be able to scan a few of my personal vehicles. Both German built and American built. And a few Korean built and it’s been able to communicate very well with all of them. Amazing unit with a lot of features. For each make. Pretty impressive. Best bang for the buck and I even have the big units from some of the big tool makers and this absolutely holds it own against them.Great battery life. Easy to update, great feature to look up codes fixes online right on the unit. Prints outs are professional looking so using in a commercial atmosphere is a definite.

*update after receiving a different scanner. The key programming/immobilizer function was actually on this one but it doesn't do very many models. Most of the special functions do not work with a vast majority of vehicles. Odometer correction works on a few years on a few makes but not many at all. VIN scan has been unsuccessful on every vehicle I have tried. Kind of buggy system where it wont sgow all available functions in one menu but will have more on a complete different area so you have to hunt around some. I had it hooked up to my 2016 Altima just seeing what it could do and whe. I disconnected the plug and started the car I had a check engine light so I rsad the code with the scanner and it said my ecu lost communication with other systems so I cleared it and it hasn't been back. Kind of scary since ive never had that happen with any othe scan tool and ive heard these bidirectional tools can damage your ecu. Upped the stars to 3 since this one has the immobilizer function the first one I was sent didn't have.Doesn't do anything advertised. Key programming is not even in the special functions menu. All updates were done took 15 hours to do almost 200 updates for nothing. Cannot even get it to communicate with my Nissan Altima. Doesn't do auto vin scan on any of my vehicles says failed to communicate. This doesn't do anything a 40 dollar scanner wont do. Its false advertising plain and simple. They're selling a 500 dollar tablet that is almost worthless.

The Xtool D8 was easy to use but did not support many features with my old Toyota. The case needs deeper compartments to get the contents back in faster. It might have fit if I had discarded the protective foam and left the AC adapter out. The packing slip mentioned a 12v adapter, but I did not see one in my box. Although this is a Prime item, there is no quick refund option. I imagine fraud is a big concern. I must wait up to 30days after the return is received plus another week for bank processing.

The key programming side of the xtool D8 is above the competitors as it can pull pin codes, this D8 has already paid for itself many times over. The xtool D8 is perfect for serious DIY and professional alike that won't break the bank, I recommend it to families and friends every time I get the chance to do so.

Key programming, map topology. Does everything I need it to do! It scans very fast. All bi directional worked on my truck. FYI will need to be updated to have topology.
