Great Kettle nice features
I have had this kettle for about a week and use it almost everyday. So far my kids and I are really enjoy using the kettle for tea, coffee and just quick boiling water.I did three pre-boils to help remove the plastic smell from the water. This was recommended to do by the manufacturer. After boiling the water three times there is a discoloration on the bottom of the inside of the pot which looks like mold (but isn't). (second picture) I just did some research on it and they said it is probably mineral deposits built up. I am just surprised it happened very quickly, but I thought I should mention it. It still smelled like plastic so I used diluted vinegar ( I think the they recommend using lemon juice) and it help remove the plastic smell and removed the discoloration as well. If the discoloration bothers you (like me) you may want to do a very diluted treatment regularly to keep it looking nice. (third picture-Like new again, yeah!) If your sensitive to smells it make take some time for the smell to complete go away. Now the unit itself I like.REMOVABLE FILTER - It has a removable filter, which I don't complete understand why you need it unless your putting something other than water in the kettle.LID - The white part of the lid need to be push back to open it the kettle, which is a nice feature.AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF - Once it boils it turns off so you don't have to worry about it staying on if your busy waiting for your water to boil and it also lets you know it is ready.LIGHT INDICATOR - There is a light on once side that lets you know the unit is on and turns off after it reaches a boil. ( I actually had it flip to the back on my first uses so I was unaware of this with the pre-boil)VIEWING WINDOW - It has a clear viewing window on both sides so you can see how much is in there and watch it boilCOOL BOTTOM - The sides can get warm so be careful, but the bottom doesn't and is save to set down without worrying its too hot.

Love This Tiny Kettle!
April 2022 Update: I've used the kettle almost daily, and it's still working great! If it had a temperature gauge, it's be perfect, but at this price point it's done a great job. I'm still very happy with it and would recommend this to anyone looking for a small size kettle.Printer Review: I'm very surprised with this little kettle! I wanted one to keep at work to brew tea with, and didn't need the typical larger electric kettles, like the one I have at home. The very small ones on Amazon didn't really fit the bill, so I went with this small 1L one, and I'm quite pleased with it. It has a grounded plug, it's base grips the counter nicely, and it does boil quickly. I love how small this kettle is, it can easily fit in my desk cabinet at work, though I keep it on a shelf with my other tea items. When turned on, it had a red light on one side, and the auto shut off works as expected. There are fill lines marked in both sides, so no guess work needed when filling it.It did take a while for the plastic smell leave, just keep boiling water in it, and leave it open to dry for several days.Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase! I may buy a second one to keep as backup for when my at-home kettle kicks it.

Looks beautiful and heats quickly, but parts seem to flake off after a couple weeks. Health issues?
This was my first electric kettle as I got into tea a few weeks ago. I just couldn't see paying $100 for a kettle to boil water, so this seemed like a better bargain. I think I'm ready for an upgrade though. This kettle has the perfect size and look. It looks good on the counter top or table top. And it does it's job -- it boils water. But that's all it does. The most important thing it lacks is some kind of "keep warm" feature, so the water gets colder after awhile. That wouldn't be a problem because the kettle works fast, except I'm told it's not good to re-boil water for tea. That also wouldn't be a problem if I drank my tea in the kitchen where I could just get fresh water. Basically, every time I want to refill my glass, I need to dump the water out and heat a new pot. That's not so bad, really, but as I'm learning more about tea, I also want to control the temperature of water (not all teas want to steep in 212 degree boiling water).I've also been hearing that it's not good to have a plastic tea kettle. I don't know. The description says it's okay, and I really like the little window to see the water boiling. Considering the aesthetic appeal of this little cutie, I think I'm okay with the plastic kettle as long as it's safe. And there's the rub. I'm not sure if it is. I followed the manufacturer's recommendation of cleaning it several times prior to use. There are strange participles floating in the water. I don't know what they are. At first I thought they were built-up scale due to the hard water in my area, but now they seem to clearly be parts of the bottom that are flaking off, like paint chips or something. It's making me nervous about using this kettle anymore. The tiny filter inside seems to be catching those particles and none is appearing in my tea glass, but it still makes me nervous. What if there are tiny particles I can't see that go through the filter? If tea can flavor my water and impact it's nutritional value just by floating inside it for awhile, can these particles do the same? What are they are and why are they peeling off from my unit?I think it's time for me to spend a little more money and get a name-brand steel or glass kettle with all the extra features.edit: I have no proof that this is related, but a recent alarming and embarassing health symptom seems to have improved when I stopped using this kettle. A proper test would involve using it again to see if the issue comes back, but I'm not willing to do that. I purchased a $100 kettle instead with all the extra features and stainless steel construction.edit: It looks like that stuff was just scale. I'm adding more stars to the review. I threw a vinegar solution in, boiled it, left it overnight, and rinsed it out. It looks as new. The bottom is supposed to be metal, not white. Clearly the problem is the water and not this item's construction. I am likely going to gift this kettle to someone or take it to work. I've noticed a similar build-up in the new kettle, too. I'm going to switch to only using bottled water for my tea to see if that helps. I'll keep a gallon sized bottle near my kettle.

Faster than my microwave.
Nice little teapot. Boils a litre in 5 minutes, 0.7 litre in about 3, which is faster than my microwave. The outside does warm up, which might be a concern for those with small kids but it was not so hot that I felt scalded by it. I could keep my hand on it 2-3 seconds so I'd say it was similar temp to very hot tap water. After the water starts boiling, the switch turns off(about 5 seconds after it goes to full boil), which may or may not be a good thing. It certainly will keep from wasting electricity and though I might think I want to turn it on before I hit the shower, I can just wait to turn it on because it heats up so quickly, plus it seems to retain heat well. The instructions say to always start with cold water so you probably shouldn't restart it after it's already hot. It lifts off the base effortlessly for cord-free pouring. It goes back on the base just as easily and feels secure there. I think the only thing that struck me odd or in anyway negative was the cord. It's thick and heavy duty so it's a bit stiff and was kind of awkward positioning it close to the outlet. Also it is recommended that you unplug the unit when not in use. No biggie, my husband walks around unplugging my appliances behind me anyway. Some people complain about it making the water taste bad, I have not noticed that. We have an RO (reverse osmosis) unit under our sink so it could be their tap water. Also, another reviewer says her water is only 160° but mine always boils so that's 212°f 100°C.Edit. One new development: be careful wiping the outside, the markings showing the measurements/ min-max wipe off.

Fits perfectly into my tiny lifestyle.
I'm a huge tea lover, so I need a tea kettle in my life. I moved out into a studio with almost no counter space, and due to the lack of space i couldn't bring my 1.8L tea kettle. So I decided to buy a medicine cabinet to convert into a tea cabinet. This little kettle fits perfectly into my new tiny lifestyle. I always turn it off before it gets too hot, I prefer little over warm water tea, and I swear this water gets extremely hot! So definitely got my money worth, best part the kettle cools down quick to store away. Definitely recommending this to tea lovers.
