I used some of these on my quail chicks. Since quail chicks are much smaller than chicken chicks it was too big for my newborn chicks but worked after about a week and a half of growth. At that point they fit better. However pay attention to how much squeeze it puts on the legs cause it definitely caused irritation on my chicks legs. My mistake for not keeping a better eye on it as she grew. Could be prevented by trimming down the size of the middle rubber piece probably. Over all I do like these. You get quite a lot in the bag and they are good quality. This definitely did work to straighten up the legs of my chicks. With these being the only option on amazon I'm glad they turned out to be good. I do recommend these and I give 5 stars.

The media could not be loaded. I’ve had chickens for years, but this was my first time hatching. I planned on following the golden rule, don’t get involved… If they can’t get out of the shell, leave them be, or you’ll end up with the disabled chicken. I had one very expensive egg hatch about halfway out, and then stopped advancing. I noticed my humidity had gone down on the overnight and figured the egg protein was adhering to the chick. I held firm and did not get involved. On day 23, after I didn’t see any more breathing from the chick through the crack shell, I went to pick out the egg and dispose of it. But when I picked up the egg, I heard distress screaming from that chick louder than I’ve ever heard a chick in my life! I figured I would open up the shell, because that chick was likely moments from death, let the chick see the light of day, get a little loving and move on. She was determined to live! But she had multiple problems. Her right leg was splayed and her good leg on the left had a toe folded under. I did physical therapy on the toe for a couple of days waiting for these to arrive. They weren’t the easiest to get on, and she hated it, but after a day or two, she is now , standing up straight, even the folded under toe is now looking normal. I’ll leave it on for no longer than a week, and then take it off and see how she does with the possibility of maybe reapplying it. She was maybe three days old when I put it on, possibly four. I don’t know why they give you 50 to a bag, it’s a bit ridiculous, but they’re cheap enough, and I would highly recommend picking these up before a hatch. Even if you don’t plan to rescue any distressed eggs, sometimes things happen… I will update , once I take off the brace.I will mention, that if you choose to takeoff and decide you need to reapply, you can cut that little tubing. Right now it’s perfect for her to stand straight and keep her splayed leg forward. But she needs more room to move now and if I take it off, I will cut the tubing to give her more stride if I decide to reapply it.I named her faith…Update: Faith has been wearing the brace now for three days. Her legs look completely normal, and the toe remains normalized. She’s walking quite normally and standing up straight for the first time since birth. She’s still not thrilled with it, but I certainly am. I’ve added a video taken this morning to show you.

These are super simple but effective. I tried the bandaid but it kept coming off. I just wish I could have ordered fewer because now I have 49 too many.

It may or may not work for the chicks. It is expensive for what it is. Good quality, though.

These won't stay on they are too big for little chick legs.

In all our hatches we've only ever had a few splay leg birds born---but I ordered these because I'd had to cull a few birds and didn't like it. I got them RIGHT before we had a hatch go completely sideways, 5 turkeys with really bad splay. Slapped these on all 5, and all 5 were good to go 30 hours later. Zero issues, reusable, simple. Definitely keeping them around forever.
